She was born 15 December 1852 in Ouachita Parish, LA. She died 0n 16 February 1942 in Houston, TX at the home of her daughter Dora Lee Madden with whom she had lived for some time. Her granddaughter Clara Mae Bower remembers her stories about her hair being combed by a house slave. She spoke of her home being taken over by "Yankees" and hated any one from the North until she died. Clara Mae also remembers that she kept a "spit cup" under her bed because she dipped snuff. In her generation it was considered "unlady like" to dip snuff, but as a young lady she defied the rules.
She was buried in Rockport Cemetery, Rockport, Aransas Co. Texas beside her husband Andrew Jackson Davis.
She was the second wife of Andrew Jackson Davis His first wife was Julia A. Casterline. Sarah and Andrew were married 7 March 1878 in Bee County, TX. by the Rev. Jonathan Newman.
